Evening Entertainment Outside Val Thorens Catered Ski Chalets

When staying in one of the many wonderful Val Thorens catered ski chalets, it really is hard to beat spending every evening relaxing by the roaring fire in the cosy ambience of Alpine bliss, glass of mulled wine in hand. But, if you fancy a change of scenery (with no less of a cosy Alpine atmosphere in most cases) you could head out and explore what else there is on offer in Val Thorens.

Catered ski chalets tend not to be too far from the centre of the resort, so everything is within walking distance, which is always good when you don’t want to expend too much more energy after a long day on the slopes.

Here are a few ideas for some evening exploits that offer the perfect complement to any winter holiday.

Dining Out

By their very nature, Val Thorens catered ski chalets require very little effort on the self catering front, but if you fancy tasting some of the local cuisine, there are many restaurants and bars in town that make for a lovely evening meal venue. Every week, the chalet staff have an evening off cooking for you too, so you will definitely need to think about booking an eatery for this particular evening.

There is a string of very good places in the centre of the resort, but for an experience you’ll never forget, the Mongolian Yurt is a fine choice. Located at 2500m, this yurt serves as a restaurant that dishes up authentic meat and seafood fondue and other regional specialities. Once you’re done, you will be escorted back to town on snowshoes or skis by torchlight; it’s a delightful evening all round!

After-Dinner Fun

Perhaps you want to eat in the chalet (the food is always very good and, as it is included in the price, it would be a shame not to indulge) and then explore the town’s entertainment. Le Bowling is a great option, especially if you are travelling with the family. It stays open until 2am and has arcade games, a pool table, a big screen TV and a bar, as well as the bowling.

For a more cultural experience, the classical and jazz festivals that are held once a week throughout the season might be more apt. They are free too, as are the music events and the many bands hosted by different bars and restaurants on most nights of the week. You can stroll in and see if you like what you hear and, if not, move on!

The Red Fox is a lively pub with karaoke and lots of happy hours too. It is a friendly and fun place to hang out and a lovely spot in which to relax, chat and enjoy a drink or two.

Home Comforts

The lure of the wonderful evening atmosphere in Val Thorens catered ski chalets is often too powerful to resist. You may well find yourself planning to head out and, when 9pm rolls around, you’re far too cosy or go anywhere. It is great to know that the option is there though for the one or two evenings when you do muster up the energy!

Remember that when booking Val Thorens catered ski chalets, the best way to go is to contact a reputable tour operator. They will have all the info on which chalet will be the best option for your group or family. They will also be able to tell you more about what events might be on after dark on the week that you are due in the resort. So, there you go! Your next winter wonderland adventure awaits.
