Introducing Three Of La Rosière’s Exemplary Restaurants
La Rosière, along with its sister village, Les Eucherts, is bursting with charm, which is what makes it so appealing and arguably more attractive to those who prefer a more authentic catered ski chalet holiday. Of course, when you choose to stay in a catered ski chalet, most of your meals are provided for you. They are usually of exceptional standard and you will, on six days out of seven, want for nothing when it comes to food. That said, your chalet host is given a day off during the week and on this day you will need to book a restaurant for your evening meal. You may also fancy treating yourself to a spot of fine dining one lunchtime as a break from your skiing, so it is good to have a few dining options to fall back on.
Special Dining Experiences in La Rosière
Le Genepi
This is a classic Alpine restaurant owned by a family who take great pride in the service they offer. Its traditional and understated decor makes for comfortable dining and the food is always excellent. This is the kind of spot where you will ‘get to know’ your waiter and be made to feel very much at home. It’s easy to see that the owners are very passionate about the experience they provide. The terrace, which is opened when the weather allows, offers great views over the mountain as the sun sets too.
Dishes here harmoniously fuse Savoyard tradition with gastronomic flair. Presentation is impressive but portions are ample. You definitely won’t regret a visit to this beautiful eatery.
L’Ancolie
This spot is a winner when it comes to a homely feel. Set over several floors, tables are nestled into little nooks and crannies, while the walls are adorned with traditional agricultural tools and other interesting features. Another family run establishment, you are made to feel very welcome as soon as you arrive. Savoyard dishes stand out at L’Ancolie and the raclette here comes highly recommended.
Matsuzaka
This one is a little different. If, by the middle of the week, you fancy a change from hearty mountain fare and the typical catered ski chalet food, this could be a good option for you to get your teeth into. The food here is Japanese inspired and delivered in an appealing contemporary style. The restaurant is in the hotel of the same name and it gets booked up quickly, so it might be best to make a reservation before you even get to the resort.
We have only just touched the tip of the iceberg with regards to great places to eat in La Rosière, but hopefully these suggestions will have given you food for thought. When organising your catered ski chalet holiday, it is advisable to go through a reputable tour operator so you can then rest assured that you’re getting exactly what you are looking for out of the experience.
